Last week I attended a wedding industry mixer and chatted with some photographer friends. They were telling me how much they love working events that have our linens. (Yay). They can edit a lot of things, but they can’t edit wrinkles out of tablecloths. Only ironing does that!

Your friend may offer you second hand tablecloths, but are they ironed? Stain free? The correct size?

You may be able to buy cheap linens online. They are 100% polyester, arrive wrinkled and need to be ironed before use. There are 10+ yards of fabric in one 120” round. That’s almost impossible to iron on an ironing board. Just ask anyone that’s tried.

Let’s say you get past the ironing, put them on the tables and have a fantastic wedding day. If you own your linens, guess who has to wash them all? You can fit one, maybe 2 in a household washing machine. The longer you wait, the harder they are to get clean. It’ll take you a while to fold them all too. Sounds like exactly what you want to do the day after your wedding, right?

It’s not too late to reserve your rental linens for your 2026 Vermont wedding. Email me to get started: [email protected]

Lately I’ve been thinking about seasons of life as I plan for 2026.

About reading a few pages before bed and falling asleep mid-chapter. About raising two kids and how fast the days move. About the bernedoodle hair that somehow finds its way into every corner of our house, no matter how often I clean (which just isn’t my style).

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I run The Linen Shop.

As 2026 engagement season begins, I find myself reflecting more than promoting. I get to witness so many beginnings while standing firmly in the middle of my own very full life. Work and home overlapping. Beauty and messiness coexisting.

I’m drawn to the quiet details — the ones that don’t demand attention but hold everything together. Maybe that’s why I love linens so much. They’re steady. Thoughtful. Supportive in the background.

I’m grateful for this work, this season, and the people who find their way here. Also if you have a great book recommendations, I’d love to hear them.
