I so enjoyed getting to know this lovely bride and her sweet bridesmaids! The gown needed a 4 layer hem to start. Then I took in the sides, added a cute belt, and a simple, elegant 3 point bustle! I also worked on dresses for several of the bridesmaids and a couple of family members! Then, I used the fabric from the brides hem to make a wrist loop for the train and fabric from the bridesmaids' dresses to make scrunchies! Wedding success!πŸ’πŸ’–βœ¨οΈ

POV: You have your pants hemmed and they turn out even better than before!

Generally, when altering items, I tend to stick to the original design. That is, UNLESS I can do it better! πŸ˜‰ Here I took 8 inches off of these sweatpants and, lets just be real, my hem looks a whole lot cleaner and nicer than the original hem. ✨️

It was a breeze to work with this sweet bride on her beautiful gown! Alterations included taking in the sides, a 5-layer hem, bra cups, and an 11 point bustle! Then, just to prove you really can have it all, I even added pockets!

πŸŽƒ Hope you all had a happy Halloween! πŸŽƒ

It's been awhile since I made a costume for myself but I wanted to share this one I made several years ago. This is meant to be a nurse from the Silent Hill franchise. The dress was a men's coat that I refashioned into a form fitting "nurse gown" which involved several nips and tucks including taking in the sides and sleeves, hemming the sleeves, and adding a zipper to the front. The mask was made by putting a black out mask around a balloon and strategically gluing the gauze like fabric (which I had dyed with raspberry tea for the bloody effect). Once it was dry I popped the balloon and added a zipper to the back. You may not be able to tell from the picture, but it's not perfect by any means. Every year I take another look and think to myself "If I did this now, it would be so much better!" But I also recognize the effort I put into it and how much I learned from the experience and I can't help but be proud. No, it's not perfect but I did it! I made this with my own hands and it was part of my journey into becoming the Seamstress/creator that I am today!

πŸͺ‘ Thrift dress makeover! πŸͺ‘

This homecoming dress was a steal at the thrift store, it just needed some seamstress love! Quite a bit of work went into this beauty in a short time to make sure it was exactly what our girl envisioned! First we cut down the neckline, keeping the same curvy sweetheart style but with more necklace space! Next was removing the puffiness of the sleeve! This was a combined effort between me and her mom. I removed the sleeves, cut them down and reattached them. It was decided later on that they were still quite puffy but thankfully mom was able to take in the middle seam of each sleeve! The waist seam was moved up and crinoline was applied to the skirt for more volume. A hem for the skirt as well. Another dress was provided to make the removable long sleeves which worked out wonderfully as a lining for the skirt as well to prevent the crinoline from scratching her legs! Lastly we took fabric from the hem to add matching cuffs to the removable sleeves and added a cute cross pendant to complete the look! The finished product was an adorably edgy look that fit her personality perfectly! 😍

πŸ‚ Fall Sweater Upcycle πŸ‚

It's not often that I get to work on a personal project but I finally finished this sweater for myself! Made from a combination of 4 different items that I didn't like to wear on thier own. As usual I unfortunately did not have the forethought to take before pictures! The gray under layer was a comfortable sweatshirt with a fuzzy hood that was a bit beaten up with age. The plain tan was a long sleeve with fur trim on the neck and sleeves that just wasn't quite my style. The knit sleeves and bottom edge came from a button up cardigan that was a bit itchy and heavy for my taste. Then, the elephant came from a t-shirt that just never felt flattering to my figure. I knew I loved elements of all of these items and decided that I couldn't stand them sitting unworn in my closet any longer! It took me several hours but the result is a completely unique item that I will actually wear! If you've got a similar project in mind, send me a message and we can collaborate on something special! πŸ’–

✨️ Who doesn't love a good upcycle?! ✨️

These bows were crafted from the fabric of the mother of the bride's wedding gown! I created four bows, complete with barrettes attached to the back. If you're interested in something similar, or if you have another idea, message me and we can collaborate on something exceptional!

🌟 Back at it again! 🌟

I took a brief hiatus from posting but rest assured, I'm still out here doin my thing! Between moving, commuting back and forth, fitting, and sewing, I've been kept quite busy! I may have neglected to take pictures but I've still got a lot of projects in the works! Here's a pair of jean shorts that I took in at the waist in the back and tapered down the center seam. I also took in the legs at the outer seam. When dealing with denim, knowledge and expertise are everything! That's why my girl knew she had to come to me! No one will even know that she had these altered! They'll just wanna admire those cute starry shorts! 🀩

I'm over the moon for this transparent organza dress! It's like a dream come true – or a dress come true! My girl wanted something special to go over a slip and I delivered with this adorable overlay. She had a vision, all I needed were a couple of reference photos, her measurements and a little imagination to bring it to life! Can't wait to see pics of the full look! – I have a feeling it'll be out of this world! πŸͺπŸ’«
