If your scrap stash is looking more scrap and less stash, if you’re looking for a really easy, quick hat project, and IF (this is a big one) you don’t mind weaving in ends then swipe to see how you can also make one of these scrap stash beanies.
🌈
You will also see why I have to tell people “I don’t write patterns” when they ask me to share. Because honestly - I am winging most of the time using my own designs. Sometimes I forget how I did the decreases last time and make it up all over again. Sometimes I can’t remember what size needles I used and just take a guess. And trust me, if you’re a perfectionist I can hear you cringing right now. But if you’re just looking for an easy going method of making a new hat then go nuts.
🌈
The disclaimers I will add : I am intentionally referring to this as a not-pattern — it has not been tested by anyone else, it may contain typos (but I did try to catch any), there’s no gauge because 🤷🏻♀️ make it hat sized - add more or fewer stitches to your cast on if you need to, this not-pattern contains really easy techniques but is not written in a way to guide you through your first project, you’ll need to have at least a basic understanding of how hats are made.
🌈
The possibilities are seriously endless, make a rainbow, do a color fade, go for contrast. For these hats I used between 4-6 or 7 colors, swipe to see how I planned to go but I ended up adding more colors along the way in some. If you do end up making you own I would love to see it, tag and .
🌈
Fun fact : this garter stitch brim, slouchy beanie was one of my first designs I made over and over again. I haven’t made it in ages and it was fun to bring it back. Swipe again to see one of my very favorite old beanies.
