Historic Downtown Russellville discoveries around every corner. Months ago I took some pictures of the back wall of the Sweden's Florist building as that wall was being repaired. A layer of bricks removed exposed this amazing original window. I called the new owner of the building to beg them to save that window. If they are not going to use it, donate it to the Historic Commission. All the pieces of that 100+ window are present. It would be a sin if it was taken to the dump. One of the owners assured me that they had plans to save it, preserve it, and possibly hang it inside the property. Anyone who loves preserving the past thanks yall!

Today, we celebrate 156 years of Russellville. πŸŽ‰

Since officially incorporating on June 7, 1870, Russellville has continued to evolve from a small railroad and river community into a thriving hub for education, industry, tourism, small business, and regional growth.

Our story is one of resilience, innovation, and progress.

From the arrival of the railroad in the 1870s that transformed commerce in the River Valley, to the growth sparked by Interstate 40, Arkansas Tech University, Lake Dardanelle, and a diverse business community, each generation has helped shape the Russellville we know today.

What began as a frontier settlement along the Arkansas River has grown into a community known for opportunity, leadership, entrepreneurship, and quality of life.

As we reflect on our history, we also look ahead with excitement toward the future we are continuing to build together.

Happy 156th Birthday, Russellville. Here’s to the people, businesses, and leaders who continue moving our community forward every day.

B Street delays. I was at B Street Bakery Thursday the 4th when I saw RFD's Justin Smith roping off an area across the street. I asked the group inside the bakery if they knew what was going on. One person said this, another person said that... And from what I could gather, there is structural damage to the B Street side wall. Now this is the building across from C&D Drug Store. There is talk that the owner is allegedly blaming the on going construction downtown for the damage to the structural integrity and the construction folk allegedly said that it's a 100+ year old building. Construction/roadwork didn't cause that damage... time did. And here we go. So if the two groups cannot work it out... it could end up as a matter for the courts to decided. So... B Street between Commerce and Denver is allegedly on hold. Construction has stopped allegedly until all this is figured out. Now the great news is once construction is done... B Street gets those groovy lights to hang, which if i remember correctly were donated by a fan of Historic Downtown Russellville. Yes, I know, we lost some parking spaces downtown, but who wants to park next to a wall and have a brick fall and hit them. That would really hurt.
