On our last trip sourcing trip to Zimbabwe, we had the delight of being invited to stay in the beautiful Machinya family home in the rural areas of Gutu. It was a long weekend in Zimbabwe and we got to experience what it meant to go home to the rural areas and meet the family.
It was a whirlwind of laughter, food, celebration, and dance. A peak life experience of the team sharing thoughts with the elders and chief in the Gutu community, a community that survives through subsistence farming and the power of sharing.
We just learned that the son of one the members of the family we stayed with is fighting for his life, battling a kidney condition that can be combated with medication. The medication cost $12,000 for the course of the treatment. The family does not have access to the finances necessary for treatment so at our urging, has started a go-fund-me.
