Cowdog Strong

Cowdog Strong Cowdog Strong Metalworks turns discards and detritus into timeless treasures. We re-purpose silverware and old coins into jewelry and other trinkets.

Other old metal objects and farm implements are re-imagined as as creatures and functional art. Kathy dabbled with metal stamping as a way to make ID tags for our dogs. Australian CattleDogs are intelligent, tireless, hearty, willful and often quite stubborn. Often referred to as“cowdogs”, Australian Cattle Dogs work hard and they play hard and that attracts like‐minded humans to the breed. In 201

4 several of our friends were battling cancer and they needed a reminder that they embody the traits that we are most attracted to in our beloved cowdogs. After a bit of browsing on Pinterest, Kathy started playing around with washers and leather and the very first “Cowdog Strong” bracelet was created. Shortly after the production of the original few “Cowdog Strong” bracelets a large puppy mill bust shocked the purebred ACD world. Kathy started pounding out bracelets and sending them all over the world to solicit donations to pass on to the groups that were rescuing the dozens of Australian Cattle Dogs that were seized as part of that raid. It wasn’t long before friends started asking if Kathy could make other customized jewelry items. What started as dabbling in metal stamping has now turned into weekends at Ginger’s Market in St. Joseph and at
local craft shows. Danny quickly tried to find a hobby that would complement Kathy’s jewelry and he soon found a passion for repurposed object metal art. Danny refers to himself as the “heavy metal division” of Cowdog Strong and his creations vary from whimsical creatures to functional pieces. Danny and Kathy both love repurposing horseshoes, silverware, golf, clubs, old glass insulators, plowpoints, old tools, etc. and using them for art and wearables. We love interacting with folks and trying to help them come up with the perfect gifts or pieces just for themselves. We remain true to our roots and proceeds from every sale go to help Australian Cattle Dogs in need around the country.

Hey Cattledog friends!!
We are starting lists and sublists for our trip to Grey Summit next weekend. Danny and I were debating what to bring and what not to bring so I am tossing it out for y'all!
Is there one or more of our SPECIFIC creations you are looking forward to seeing? We would hate to leave Christmas trees and Penguins behind in the workshop, for example, if a holiday enthusiast was really looking forward to seeing those items.
Picture for attention (and no, we will not be bringing an 8 foot giraffe, she was a one-off!) ;)

Another sneak peek. Video in the comments because some of these are two sided or wraparound.

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.
This morning we got a 4 am message from one of the security guards in Lincoln Park. I have my phone set to silent so I didn't get the message until 6 am. I broke the news to Danny and we hustled over to Danville.
Old canopy discarded and new canopy put up....we ARE Cowdog Strong ❤️
