THE OLD SCANDINAVIAN WORK SHIRT - the busserull

100-150 years ago the busserull-shirt was used by farmers, lumberjacks and factory workers in Scandinavia as the standard work shirt. If the shirt was new with no patches or holes, it was worn on Sundays, but never in church! A garment similar to this shirt is known back to the Middle Ages. During the time of the busserull shirt, fabric was a scarce

commodity. To not waste any fabric, the shirt was made from squares and rectangular pieces. HOVDEN FORMAL FARM WEAR

Hovden Wear is bringing the old Norwegian work shirt into the modern age. A group of ladies in Basque Country, Spain, who specialize in making traditional European clothing, make the shirts for us. We use 100% linen and 100% wool. Contact info:
