The vast majority of fashion magazines and publications promote unrealistic and unreachable standards for women. I took those magazines and created a dress completely made out of paper, to embrace all women and not just the standards printed in magazines.
I also challenged people to look past their insecurities in hopes to find beauty within themselves. This was done by asking people what beauty means, I then took those answers and wrote them on mirrors that were then put on a dress, so that well you read the definitions you see yourself, and perhaps you find beauty in a place you may not have seen it before.
I would like to give a big thanks to all who gave me their definitions of beauty. You’re part of the conversation.
The biggest thanks to The Minnesota Museum of American Art for inviting and allowing me to showcase my art at their wonderful event. If you have not already The Minnesota Museum of American Art is a Saint Paul must see. Wonderful art in a rage of media’s. So much to see! Stop in to support local artists!
Josie I couldn’t have done this without you. You’ve been so amazing to work with. Thank you for being there since the first dress I made. You’re outstanding and I couldn’t have asked for a better person or model to show case my work. Endless love for you.
