Pride is not a month.

Pride is who we are.

Pride is not one parade, one festival, or one celebration. Pride is something many of us live every day. We don’t come out once—we come out again and again. When we start a new job. When we build new relationships. When we introduce our spouse. When we hold our husband’s hand in public. When we simply choose to be visible.

For many LGBTQIA+ people, visibility also comes with awareness. We check our surroundings. We consider our safety. We navigate a world where acceptance is not always guaranteed.

Being LGBTQIA+ is not a choice. Why would anyone choose discrimination, rejection, or the risk of losing family, friends, opportunities, or basic rights?
Yet Pride is not defined by those challenges.

Pride is joy. Pride is love. Pride is community. It is the freedom to live authentically, the strength to be ourselves, and the connections we build with those who support and celebrate us. It is found in chosen families, lifelong friendships, and the courage to take up space in the world exactly as we are.
Pride is a celebration of humanity—the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, respected, valued, and loved.
