THE STORY OF OLD SULLY AND JAKE
Long ago and far away, (Old) Sully and Jake first met when they tried to get the drop on each other in a swimming hole. Realizing that at least one of them would probably die, rather than shoot it out, they chose instead to buy each other a drink at the nearest saloon. And that's how it all began. THE DISCOVERY
Well, one drink led to more, and later that night Old
Jake found himself knee deep in a high stakes poker game. Jake was quite a card player in those days, and that night he was at his best. But Jake's good fortune didn't set well the some of the local gun hands, who wrongly accused him of cheating. After a very short discussion on the subject, Sully and Jake found themselves running for their lives. With the sound of hot lead ricocheting all around, they hightailed it deep into the woods. Clueless as to where they were headed, they ran desperately until they both lost their footing and plunged suddenly into a rushing river far below. The river tossed them about in all directions as it swiftly carried them into the darkness of a hidden mountain tunnel. When they finally emerged into daylight, they found themselves cut up, bruised and exhausted, in a crystal clear pool of water at the edge of a deep rolling meadow. That's when they first laid eyes on the place that would come to be known as the legendary GGB Ranch. THE SET UP
Old Sully and Jake saw this as good fortune, something they could build on. Searching around they found chairs, some tables and a bar. They also found an old guitar, which Sully could play. In desperate need of cash, Sully would sit on the front porch every night and play for tips. Soon people were coming from as far away as Briar Hill and the Great Lakes to listen to the music. The news spread and other pickers showed up. Sully became surrounded by a cast of characters with names like, Bobo, Mode, Buckster, Rollo, Rick Flash, Big Al, Kid Bodine, Pauli Timbali and the good Dr. Mud. The old juke joint was really jumping, but it wasn't just because of the music. The real draw was old Jake's PP #9 home brew. It was said that old PP #9 could make a guy feel like a 3-peckered billy goat, which in turn attracted more women. The cash was rolling in and old Sully and Jake were flying high! THE RANGE
As word has it, guns, guitars and booze don’t always mix and there would be times when things got out of hand.. “Gentleman Jake”, as he came to be known, laid down the law and said “if you’re drinking, put away the guns”. This led to the Range part of the Ranch. The range became a place where people resolved their differences. Targets were setup, and if you out shot your competitor, or nemesis, you won, whether for money, women, horses or sheep. This made the GGB Ranch a safe and popular place to visit. THE RANGE TODAY
The GGB Ranch still exists today, but not just for old Sully & Jake. It's for all the Sullys, Sallys and Jakes who still enjoy kicking back with good friends, for a good time, wherever they are. The GGB Ranch is everywhere and anywhere you want it to be. It's your place.
