I do have a favorite customer 🌷 This young man is Mr Nettestad and he is 93 yrs old. When he began coming in, he was about 75 and doing beautiful cross stitch projects for us to frame. In the past year he was introduced to the Diamond painting craze. So one day when I was shopping, I ran across this kit and decided to get it for him because I knew he was looking for a peacock. He created the art like it was his paid job😊 in record time. So, here we are proudly showing our collaborative effort! Thank you Mr Nettestad for being such a wonderful customer for 20 years πŸ’•

We tried something a little different today 😊
This customer wanted to see both sides and wanted it to β€œfloat” We made an acrylic form for the shirt and inserted that acrylic between two mats with a foam board spacer to hold it in place. Wasn’t real happy with the wrinkles-have to make a tighter fitting form next time? The T-shirt fabric was a bit flimsy and hard to control. Frame could have been deeper too-used infinity hangers to close up back and added wall buddies (painted black also). Some good lessons learned! πŸ˜‰

This is how to start a Saturday 😊 Sometimes I hate lacing hut it’s so satisfying to see it finished!
This was the first textile that I ever framed(30 yrs ago or so)
I was told at the time to use double sided carpet tape to mount it.
Fortunately those that taught me that only had me put the tape on the back, so only the edges were damaged. Since this is my personal piece I cut off some of the damage and remounted on 8-ply with lacingπŸ‘

I was inspired by a post from Greg Perkins recently and decided to try putting some positive messages out in my little corner of the world. Here’s what we put on our windows this week (along with the inspiration for them)

What will you remember from the lockdown? Custom framers from around the world have made this video as a reminder that space on your wall is reserved for exactly these memories: being with a family, starting a new hobby, finishing that painting or honoring those whom we lost. Michels Frames & Things is now open for business and we look forward to framing these memories for you!
