We’re very excited to announce that Thorns will be at the this coming weekend, hosting a big studio sale and sharing a tent with our friends at !
Salem Night Faire is a magical event in Salem, Massachusetts, and one of our most favorite happenings of the year. In honor of the Faire, October, and the start of the Dark Half of the year, we are having a studio sale, bringing unusual and custom pieces, with a steep in-person discount on all our samples, rare pieces, antiques, and one-off works (including some special pieces like handmade shoes). Come join us and feel free to haggle — the goal is to make space in our tiny studio so we can have room to make new pieces. 🎃

New product announcement: finally, a Thorns t-shirt!
After years of people asking why we don’t have a t-shirt, I finally got my act together and designed one, and I’m so proud of it. drew the illustration and it’s perfect. It’s hand-screened with absolutely self-indulgent, unnecessarily complex 3 color print with a tiny hint of metallic gold to perfectly match vintage Djarum packaging. Meant as an homage to old school goth kids everywhere, we only made 50 of these, printed on a high quality Comfort Colors blank (comparable to a 1990s vintage Gildan heavyweight fit). Hi friends! Here’s a quick update on the clove cigarette perfume preorders: packages will ship out later this week (Thursday or Friday). All purchasers should have received a USPS tracking number via email, and you should see a change in your package status by Friday of this week showing that your package is on its way to you. I’m really excited for people to receive the perfume, and I hope that you love wearing it! 🌿🦇🌿

I will be closing pre-orders at the end of the day today. The next steps will be going into production with the perfume, and then I will be mailing it out to everyone. The process may take a few weeks, but I will keep everyone updated on our progress here at this account. As always, feel free to DM or email me with questions. Hi friends, Clove Cigarette Perfume Pre-Orders are now open! Link in bio for orders, with details at the link.
We’ve decided to open another round of pre-orders for our wonderful collab with : the much-requested Clove Cigarette Perfume. This is a nostalgic scent meant to evoke that telltale olfactory experience from 80s and 90s goth clubs. Lest anyone is confused: smoking is very bad for you. I had to stop my clove habit after years of it messing with my lungs — so this perfume is my way of preserving a potent and emotionally charged aromatic legacy from a certain time in the subculture, allowing folks to enjoy the aura of very specific 80s/90s goth scene nostalgia, without hurting our collective health. I hope you enjoy the perfume in good health, while swirling around to beautiful music under cover of romantic darkness! 🦇🦇

We have some more good news today! Thorns will be vending at the Clothing Faire at gallery in Philadelphia, on Saturday June 24th! I’m especially excited to debut some unreleased new Thorns items, and restocked Clove Cigarette perfume, alongside incredible vendors and friends including , , , , .vintage, , and !
On a personal note, the events and atmosphere that Jess and the Bloodmilk crew have cultivated at Sphinx and Snakeskin is truly special. A lot of care and love has been put into the space and curation, and it shows. I hope if you’re in the area, you’ll come say hello, and enjoy the warm and creative atmosphere. ♥️🦇⚰️

Long time, no see! I’ve got a flurry of good news for you all. First thing: after an incredibly difficult creation cycle fraught with setbacks, supply chain issues, and slowdowns, we are finally in the final manufacturing phase for the Tuxedo Shirts! Thanks to everyone for your incredible patience and support — we truly have the best customers in the world. I anticipate the shirts will be done shortly, but I’ll keep updating folks here about them as the process continues. Right now we’re in the cutting phase — meaning the pattern pieces for all the shirts are being cut out in our small family-owned factory with a giant jigsaw. Next, they’ll be assembled and the fronts pleated by that same factory. Then the factory folks will pack them packed up, and I’ll pick em up and ship them out to everyone who pre-ordered one.
I plan to post more here in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for another announcement tomorrow. 🦇♥️🦇

TUXEDO SHIRT DELIVERY UPDATE
Hi friends! Today I wanted to post to provide an update about shipping times for the preorder of our beautiful tuxedo shirts. We ran into some crazy and completely not-normal manufacturing issues with the shirts, related to supply chain issues. These issues are now resolved, but because of them we had to move the whole manufacturing process back, and so the shirts will be delayed. Our new shipping date is estimated as late March - the end of April.
I’m so sorry for this significant delay! If you are a preorder customer, I understand that this is not the timeline that you were promised, so if you would like a full refund, we are happy to provide one to you immediately. Just DM or email and let us know, and we’ll take care of it asap.

We live in crazy inflationary times and with a crazy economy, and I can’t remember the last time I ever experienced a situation like this in my 10 years of manufacturing small batch clothing. It’s definitely more difficult to manufacture sewn products than it was a few years ago. But I don’t forsee further delays with the shirts, so late March/April should be the final date for delivery.
I’ll continue to provide updates here about the shirts as the manufacturing process continues. We also have some other items in the works, so look out for posts about that as well!

Hi friends, unfortunately I have sad news today, which is that I tested positive for Covid yesterday, so because we’re essentially a one-person art-company, Thorns will not be attending the Oddities market tomorrow. 😢 This is obviously super heartbreaking, I was really looking forward to the event, especially this year, because the vendors are beyond amazing. And as always, I was especially looking forward to seeing everyone. I hope that if you have Oddities tickets, you will still go and visit our friends at the booth, and enjoy the many other vendors who are attending. The Market is truly outstanding this year. 💔💔
To make up for missing Oddities, later this winter in January or February, I hope we can host a New York City-based event especially for Thorns customers and followers, either an open studio day, or perhaps a fashion event at a NYC-based gothic club. I’ll keep everyone posted about that! Additionally, I’ll be adding the one-off samples and items we were going to sell at Oddities to the Thorns website — I’ll post about that shortly when they’re available. If you’ve purchased an Oddities ticket to come see us, I’ll be offering those folks an additional discount code on our site for these items.

That’s because on December 10th, Thorns will be vending at the in New York City, along with many other wonderful vendors such as our friends , , , , and a ton of other high quality small businesses! Oddities almost always sells out, so grab tickets from the link in the Oddities bio today if you plan to attend! We’ll have the Tuxedo Shirt sample on hand for everyone to check out in person.
My favorite thing about running Thorns is all the awesome, likeminded people I’ve met in the course of running this weird non-profitable art business — seriously. I can’t wait to meet everyone in person on Sunday — see you there! 🌿🦇🌿

Portrait of the artist in their studio. In this case, my studio is a very messy 100sq ft room inside my apartment.. so instead this is a portrait of me in my much less chaotic living room a few steps away. :)
There are still some time to grab this gorgeous diagonal-pleated heirloom linen tuxedo shirt before preorders close. Like our design process, the construction of all our pieces also takes place entirely in New York City. Fashion can be a shady industry, so it’s important to me to know exactly who, how, and in what conditions our garments are being made. I like knowing the specific people who construct ours, knowing they are incredible craftspeople being paid a living wage, and being able to pop into the factory any time to see the pieces in progress. I am also proud to say that the quality of our pieces is exquisite.
