Vernon H. Powell’s education in footwear began years before he opened his first store!

In 1929, Vernon attended The Scholl Orthopedic Training School, a program created to train footwear professionals in foot anatomy, scientific shoe fitting, identifying foot concerns, and improving overall foot comfort.

The school was part of the Scholl organization founded by Dr. William M. Scholl. Yes, the same Scholl behind the iconic Dr. Scholl’s brand still recognized today.

Just seven years later, Vernon opened his first store in 1936. Nearly 90 years later, that same emphasis on knowledge, proper fit, and personal service remains an important part of Vernon Powell.
