Sleep regressions happen as your baby grows and develops new skills. They can happen because of new developmental milestones, teething, illness, and even separation anxiety.
Let’s talk about how to help you get through them when they do happen.
-Prevent Overtiredness. Make sure your baby is getting good naps, even if it means that you need to offer more comfort to calm them, or even hold them to extend their nap.
-Stay Consistent. Keep offering the naps, even if you feel your baby is fighting them. Continue your normal sleep routines. Even if your child doesn’t necessarily sleep, keep your expectations around sleep the same. That could mean keeping the room dark and quiet for the duration of a typical naptime, or giving your toddler quiet activities to do during that typical nap hour.
Most regressions resolve within 2 weeks! You CAN and WILL get through this rough patch of time.
