Storm surges have uncovered something extraordinary at Badger Beach in Narawntapu National Park. The remains of a petrified forest!
This is a small part of a large area of exposed forest. It is estimated to be from the last glacial period, so itโs about 40 thousand years old.
This fossilised forest won't be around for long. Tides will gradually re-cover the forest in sand.
If you witness this rare event, remember to take only photographs and leave only footprints.
