I recently had the pleasure of working with a stilt artist for the first time and found it was an awesome experience. Exploring diverse areas of costuming is a passion of mine. After thousands of leaves, flowers, and tricks, we ultimately achieved success. Thank you, Jamie Hedeen, @ Houston Stilt Walkers

My passion for paint and distressing started in my early 20s at the Art Museum in Lima, Peru, where I learned batik and tie-dye techniques. Creating garments for Ballet is a passion of mine, as it presents a challenge that I enjoy seeing come to life on stage. A costume must be designed to move and hang correctly, flow and fly with the dancer, stretch but remain durable, convey its message in a large space, and sometimes, like Poe's, it must withstand paint and distress. This specific piece was challenging due to working with stretch velvet, which required a tailored appearance, maintained stretch in certain areas, looked great inside and out, and allowed for easy removal on stage.
