āThey are filled with new wineā Acts 2:13
āNo one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins⦠New wine is for fresh wineskinsā
Jesus once told this parable to help illustrate how filling the old with something new, results in loss. The old and vain traditions that deteriorated the Pharisees would not be able to contain the fullness and freshness of the promised Holy Spirit. These traditions would no longer be the substance, rather theyād be the over flow of being filled with this New Wine.
This is an illustration of the Upperroom, where God opened the gates of His glory and let the Holy Spirit pour from heaven into these dry bones and caused them to live. This is Jesus baptizing his disciples with fire as John said He would. This is the coming of the promise. Behold, the old has passed away, the New has come. This is the coming of the promise, the new covenant, the New Testament, sealed by the blood of Christ.
