Hi friends! I know I’ve been quiet on Instagram over summer but I wanted to pop in and let you know I’m still here… and so is Collectible Brooks, with all the beautiful vintage and antiques, blue & white, and vintage Turkish rugs that you know I love!

It’s been a busy summmer balancing the shop with my full-time job as a pediatrician, and I’m excited to share something new I’ve been working on….

After more than 20 years in pediatrics, I’ve started a new space on Instagram:
Brooks Hagee, MD !

I’d love for you to join me there! I’ll be sharing practical, evidenced-based pediatric information and the same advice I give parents every day in my office - covering everything from newborns to teens.

You’ll also fine my “What I Tell Parents” series, helpful information about common childhood illnesses, nutrition, development and safety, along with updates on new pediatric research and topics that matter to families.

So don’t worry, Collectible Brooks isn’t going anywhere! I’m just making a little more room on Instagram for the other big part of my life.

I love a good Before & After collection! Here’s a sample of our most recent home projects this year…
In the kitchen, we swapped out the contemporary metal, glass, and bulbs island fixture for two linen pleated shades from . We also added a soft linen shade from (that I installed myself) over the window.

In the foyer, we replaced the enormous black iron light with a traditional, elegant brass pendant from .

In our family room, we loved the rich hues of our hand woven rug but it was too small for the space. Layering it over a sisal rug (from ) was all it needed!

We are making progress slowly transitioning our home back to its more traditional style and have really enjoyed installing classic elements, such as lighting and textures, as we go. We still have a lot we’d like to do but we are taking it one project at a time! What projects are you working on right now in your home?

So we removed the backyard fountain and river rocks! Okay, so all who were Team Fountain, hear me out… It was a pretty focal piece but, oh my, between the mosquitos breeding in it, all the weeds that kept cropping up around it, and the constant having to unclog it from gross leaf matter we were ready to let it go! I listed it on FBMP last year and several people came over to see it but no one could figure out how to move it (this thing was solid concrete and huge). Finally, someone came over who said he could do it. And over the course of four days of grueling work he dismantled it and hauled it off (after all that hard work we just gave it to him). We were not sure what we would find after we got it moved and besides the six inches of concrete pad that he also kindly removed for us, the wall behind where it was just needs to be made to be flush with the rest of the wall and maybe we should put a pretty bench there (next project). I also relocated the river rocks to our driveway area (not fun) and I put grass down to soften the area and to keep the weeds down. And then because we were laying grass here we decided to lay it in another spot in the backyard as well (swipe to see the sister project). And of course we had to redo some of the irrigation for all the chnages🤦🏼‍♀️. This was definitely a larger project than we anticipated (design creep strikes again) but we are very glad we did it! Have you ever had to remove a huge water feature from your yard? Would love to hear below!
