Sunday brought far more of you up the hill than we planned for, and by the end of the day essentially all of the ripe fruit had been picked. That is a wonderful problem to have, and we are grateful for it. But it means there is not enough ready fruit to open tomorrow.

WE ARE CLOSED LABOR DAY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7. The orchard and the farm stand are both closed. If you were planning to come up, please don't make the drive.

We are sorry. We know some of you had the day set aside, and we would rather tell you tonight than have you find a locked gate in the morning.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

There are plenty of apples still on the trees, growing and coloring up. They simply need more time. We are walking the rows and checking them every day.

Wednesday, September 9 — we will announce whether we open the weekend of September 12 and 13, but we will not be open Fridays this season.

Monday, September 14 — we will confirm the weekend of September 19 and 20. We will be open that weekend.

She's taking a break 🥹 and I'm an as***le for bothering her.🫣
-Leafcutter Bee are amazing general pollinators. Whether its fruit trees or flowers. Love seeing them taking up space like they should.
- Plant natives, avoid pesticide, and be very cautious about bringing in honeybees if you don't have the foraging available to support both. Natives only collect what they need to feed themselves and babies for the season. Honeybees collect until there is nothing left or it gets too cold. Great for agricultural pollination but bad for local or sensitive ecosystems.

- He enjoyed both the Coffee Honey and Avocado but the Avocado Honey was the winner. Our Avocado honey comes from honeybees placed on Avocado farms in San Diego County. It's a dark, rich, kind of buttery honey. Favorite for yogurt, cheese, sauté, or people the prefer their honey slightly savory.

We did a beeswax thing 🐝✨

Behind the scenes at SAVAGE BEE-CHES, the work is wonderfully hands-on. Our beeswax salves, cleansing bars, scrubs, and candles are made in small batches, poured, shaped, wrapped, and left to set naturally.

New skincare batches are being prepared now, and we’re getting ready to show you the real process from before setting to after setting, whenever each batch is ready. No mystery, no factory feel, just beautiful beeswax craftsmanship made with care in San Diego.

Our blog, “Beyond the Hive: Why Beeswax Skincare & Candles Are Taking Over San Diego Homes,” is now live. We’ll be sharing why beeswax belongs in more than the hive, from nourishing salves and cleansing bars to warm, handmade candles for your home.
