Hi! It’s been awhile - I haven’t been very active in this space over the past few months and I also know there are a lot of new people here, welcome😊

Two months ago we welcomed our son, Malakai, into our family and I decided to take a little break from this space to allow myself to be fully present with my family as we settled into our new normal as a family of four. It has been so nice spending days bonding with Kai, seeing him with my daughter Nyah, and getting to know this new little soul who has joined us on this journey through life.

Over the past few months, I have also found myself feeling deeply overwhelmed watching women be stripped of our bodily autonomy and seeing the government fail to help protect Mother Earth and aggressively champion for her against climate change. There is a lot of work to be done and it truly feels like it is up to us, the people, to do it.

I have always wanted this space to be one of community. One where we can come together collectively to have difficult conversation, to make change, to support one another. So, while taking some space from Esra over the past few months, I have decided to pivot a little bit. I want to start to focus more on the collective whole, starting a blog, newsletter, interviews, and a space where we can talk about difficult topics as well as sustainably, nature, womenhood, motherhood, recipes, and all that brings us joy even on dark days. This will start to be more of the focus here. A safe space where all is celebrated as well as a resource where we can do the hard work.

Of course I will still have our bras and underwear along with other ethically made clothing. Yet, these collections will start to become smaller scale and limited edition launches.

I hope you will join me as I transition this little corner of the internet. I hope to all be able to feel connected here, valued here, and seen here. That has always been my driving force behind Esra, to create pieces that support and celebrate all women through all seasons of life. I can’t wait for this new chapter for Esra outside of just ethically made garments and the change we can create together.

One of our favorite daily meditations is to find a quiet place to sit or lay for five minutes. Once comfortable with our hands resting over heart, repeat to ourself in between deep breath’s, counting in for 5 seconds, holding our breath for 4 seconds, and deeply exhaling for 5 seconds to move all stagnant air out of our lungs:
I am safe
I am loved
I am worthy
I am valid
Today is going to be a good day

Over the next month we will be sharing more about breast health, the connection between our jaw and pelvic floor, and how to start to practice self care through easy daily meditations and positive affirmations.

Meet our best seller, the T-Shirt Bra. Designed to provide support and comfort all day without the need for underwire for sizes 28A-42H (including hard to find sizes for women with larger busts and smaller band sizes).

Made from GOTS certified organic cotton and cups lined with super soft naturally hypoallergenic and moisturize wicking bamboo fabric.

All elastic used for the straps and band is made from GOTS certified organic cotton and sustainably harvested tree-rubber making them completely plastic free, compostable, and biodegradable.

All bras are hand dyed using botanical dyes such as pomegranate and iron.

We are transparent in where our bras are made and who makes them. We are proud to partner with Blue Tin Production in Chicago IL, a co-op owned and run by women who are paid a thriving wage, benefits, and have access to childcare.

Our production runs are small on purpose so we can be intentional with all pieces that are handmade. Good Morning ☀️Andie here, founder and designer of Esra. I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with my second baby.

I actually started designing bras and underwear for Esra after I had my first baby and couldn’t find any comfortable, supportive, and sustainable options in my size (34H).

As mothers, there are so many things we have to figure out how to navigate everyday, the last thing any of us should have to think about is our bra or un**es fitting correctly. We should be able to find bras and underwear that embrace our new bodies as we learn who we are all over again during the fourth trimester.

After dealing with my b***s spilling out of bras, bands being too loose, no support, adjusting all day long, wearing underwire to feel a bit more like myself and ending up with mastitis (5 times 😳) I knew there had to be a better way for women to experience the bra (nursing or not).

Now here we are. Three years later wearing the bras and underwear I created while I am pregnant again. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have these pieces to wear throughout this pregnancy.

Breathable, organic, super soft, extremely supportive even for my current size (36H), non-toxic, and sustainable. So many times over the past three years I came up against huge roadblocks where I almost gave up, but I am so glad I kept going (it’s no secret that starting a sustainable and ethically made clothing company isn’t easy in a world of fast fashion) so that now I can share these essentials with you. I’m so glad you are here and I hope you love Esra pieces as much as I do, through all seasons of life. That every time you put them on you know that you belong, that you are seen, supported, and celebrated for all that you are.

Connecting back with Mother Earth. All our bras are made with organic natural fibers, compostable and biodegradable elastic, and hand-dyed with botanicals such as pomegranate and iron.

We believe there is a better way to create goods that doesn’t cause harm to the plant or the people who make them.

Only a few T-Shirt Bras in the Sage colorway are left before this small batch run is sold out.

The “Rising” collaboration print with local female artist Rebecca Eitchten is up and available on our website.

Each print is 11 x 14, block printed to order, and has hand laid gold leafing on cotton archival paper. With every print purchased we donate 10% to women’s domestic violence centers.

Rebecca is the incredibly talented artist who did all the artwork for Esra and it was such a joy to work with her and to know her.
