I'm super excited for this weekend and the first-ever Fiber Fest ! Join us for a full day that showcases the sustainability of wool through craft in our Southern California Fibershed. Watch the wool sheared off the sheep, get skirted & combed, spun, and wet felted (and so much more)! Don't know what a fibershed is? Come find out! We'll have an epic fiber swap, celebrate worldwide knit in public day together, pet alpacas, create crafts and explore the world of fiber arts.

Summer Weaving Camps!
Do you know a child or teen who wants to learn to weave & explore this fun fiber art? I'll be teaching two in-person, half-day camps this summer at and am looking forward to sharing the love of this simple, soft, but oh-so-versatile craft!
Save the date! Monday through Friday, July 29-August 2, we'lll begin the day from 9am-12pm with Weaving Basics Summer Camp, 8+yrs. We'll dive into weaving, looms, fiber choices, and explorative play! The second half of the day, from 1-4 pm, we'll dive deeper into more complex looms with Teens Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving Summer Camp, 13+yrs. In this camp, teens will learn the fundamentals of weaving along with how to warp and weave, build fabric from scratch, and beyond!

Weaving is an artistic path that's felt like a journey into past lives for me...
I didn't begin weaving until ten years ago, in my thirties, and it felt huge and daunting mixed with a feeling of long-lost-love. I hadn't created space for a passion besides my family at that time in my life; it had always been about school goals, work goals, travel goals. Not grounded, in-place, hands-on craft goals...
So a tiny bit about me. I'm not much of a fan-girl type, usually being one to dabble in lots of things all the time rather than one deep dive in one area. But weaving broke me out of that cycle, big time. And it's connected me to a much bigger community and experience, even if for the moment, I mostly {teach} weaving, while running my small business and doing side-contract work...
Weaving has been a path of self-discovery and patience, experimentation and releasing of copious amounts of rigid expectations that had once served me well earlier in life...
And earlier this summer I pulled out the warping wheel and dusted off the floor loom for an all-nighter of weaving proportions for a special project.  of reached out looking for a weaver in action for his upcoming series, Human Footprint. Warp chains are pretty. 💙
As with so much crafting and art creation, it's these little in-between steps that I love the process of making, to look at, to photograph, and to enjoy.

I love the warping process!
So many weavers begin their life of weaving with the obvious--weaving. The methodical, repetitious sway of weaving weft across a clean, tight warp is magic. It was my first love of the process, too.
But, the Warping process has its own magic. The anticipation of set up.
The first time you see the colors begin to flow together.
The making of order and plans.
These days, I'm usually warping rigid heddle looms for an upcoming class. Or, teaching warping and weaving, as I will in September at for another 1-day Learn-to-Warp-&-Weave Workshop. (Maybe I'll see you there!:)
But warping for my floor loom is something else. Feeling grateful for memories, processes and potential.

It's been two and a half years since I moved, and I've been on the quieter side online. Moving and setting up anew helped me adjust my expectations, focus & attention in new directions and social media was one of the activities that got bumped.
Anyhow, my loom and fiber got a room of their own at our new home--gotta love an unfinished bonus room for the beauty of potentia!--and yes, they and i feel lucky, grateful and spoiled.
But my tools have also been lonely. Shipping, quickbooks, and business operations; side-gigs & teenagers take first rung these days.
But the studio is clean and shiny and deserves a picture for my memories, so here she is. With actual weaving, like the old days, to come!
Tell me, what would you do with a bonus room?!

Planning.....
It's been a long time since my floor loom has had fun.
We moved.
She got her own studio.
She waited for me to get other work done.
And before you knew it, 2 years had passed...
Grateful for creative nudges.
Late nights.
& Deadlines.
