On the winter solstice, the garden rests beneath the quietest sky. This is the longest night, when roots hold fast and gather strength. Beds lie bare, but the soil is not empty; it is healing.
We honor recovery here, where stillness does important work. Frost teaches patience, and darkness teaches trust. We leave behind the rush, the forcing, the fear of falling behind.
We set down what no longer feeds us, like spent stems and tired plans. Compost happens now, turning old efforts into future nourishment. Under mulch and moonlight, life is listening.
Each day after this, the light returns in small, faithful steps. Hope doesn’t shout; it glows. Spring is already practicing, quietly, below the surface.
We tend the promise by resting with the land.
What we release makes room for what will grow.
From this deep pause, we rise together toward green.
Like the garden, the vineyard, and the forest, we have the power to recover and rise. Now is our time to hold fast to the hope of spring and our journey toward shared goodness in the world.
