Drumm and California Streets heading north (Then and Now)
The intersection of Drumm Street and California Street is located near San Francisco’s Embarcadero waterfront. In earlier years, the area was part of a busy port district with warehouses, shipping activity, and nearby ferry services. Streetcars and vehicles moved along the roads connecting the waterfront to the financial district. The Ferry Building and nearby piers were central to transportation and trade. Over time, the waterfront underwent major redevelopment, especially after the removal of the Embarcadero Freeway. Today, the area features open public spaces, improved walkways, and modern buildings. It remains a key connection between the city’s financial district and the bay.
