As the warmth of Spring fills the air and nature blooms with new life, we are thrilled to mark a new chapter in our journey towards a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry. For over a decade, (FiSF) has been a beacon of guidance to designers in San Francisco and beyond, while also convening a broader community of creative professionals and industry executives in pursuit of a more innovative, planet-friendly and compassionate fashion landscape. Our approach to our mission has evolved over the years to meet the needs of the FiSF community we serve. We find ourselves once again on the cusp of a new beginning, carefully designed to enable us to stay true to our mission: to empower creative professionals to do what they love for a living. With that in mind, we have some incubator news to share about what’s next for FiSF.

After carefully considering what was needed to create a valuable program for designer and artisan led-brands, we are pleased to announce the Wear Your Values mentorship program supported by a grant from FiSF. FiSF has transitioned its operations and donated to (WYV), the fashion industry-focused initiative of the Human Rights Foundation. Like FiSF, WYV aims to elevate ethically and sustainably minded designers and brands, build a supportive community, and advocate for better practices within the fashion industry.

The mentorship program will support designers through all aspects of their business, including sourcing accessories, ensuring the cotton used is free from forced labor, and marketing and branding. By creating a network for designers to ask questions, receive advice and support, and learn from one another, we believe ethical fashion can become the norm.

We are so proud to have been able to serve the San Francisco Bay Area fashion community for more than 12 years. Thank you for your support, we could not have done it without you!

A couple weeks ago the Human Rights Foundation’s ‘Wear Your Values’ program hosted a night of celebrating Artisan Fashion at the de Young museum, with the support of Fashion Incubator San Francisco (FiSF).

Our mission at FiSF has been ‘to empower creative professionals to do what they love for a living’ and we’re so happy to weave the FiSF and HRF communities together. The Human Rights Foundation shares a commitment to elevate the profiles of ethically and sustainably minded designers and brands while advocating for better practices in the fashion industry.

The night included an exhibition walk through the ‘Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style’ at the de Young museum, followed by organization remarks and mixing and mingling among members of the FiSF and HRF communities.

The programming highlighted some of our FiSF alumni. These graduates of our designers-in-residence program are now successful entrepreneurs leading well-established businesses. We were proud that their progress, passion and commitment to building ethically and sustainably minded brands were showcased.

Special thanks to the for hosting a truly magical night!

Celebrating the Unforgettable Legacy of Ann Cole Lowe 🌟

From the heart of Clayton, Alabama, Ann Lowe emerged as a beacon of inspiration in the world of fashion. Born in 1898, she inherited a love for dressmaking from her mother and grandmother, setting the stage for her remarkable journey. Despite facing early hardships, including the loss of her mother at 16, segregation, being underpaid and unacknowledged, Ann’s passion for sewing and high fashion remained unwavering. Over the span of five decades, she etched her name in the annals of fashion history, collaborating with renowned stores and boutiques and dressing some of America’s elite, including former First Lady, then Jackie Bouvier to a young Senator John F. Kennedy.

Today, Ann’s influence resonates, inspiring generations with her timeless elegance and unwavering spirit. Ann Cole Lowe is a trailblazer whose legacy continues to illuminate the path for generations to come and we love to highlight her and continue to share her story with the world.. 💫
