I know many know, but I still cannot believe it. My heart is shattered. I lost a best friend, my big brother, Carlos Gonzalez, my Chompete, my Ren, iykyk. We would spend hours on the phone. He would say I was his free therapist, but he was mine. Though i did most of the listening, it was therapeutic for me knowing he knew he could count on me when he needed an ear, someone to lean on, someone to vent to. One of the good things he never got tired of talking about was his Chuchu, his son Sebastian whom he loved with all his heart. He was proud of the awesome young man he had as a son, he was his world. My heart aches for my buddy. Tia loves you Sushi and will always be here for you and your mom. Though separated, he loved his wife, Sebastian's mom Aide too. For a few years when Sebastian was little, my husband, my daughter and I were fortunate enough to be able to take care of Sebastian on the weekends. Emma became close with her cousin Sebastian, they still have that bond and Emma loved her Uncle Moo Moo very much. For tnose who don't know he was walking home from Macarthur Bart station in Oakland after an evening shift at work. Just before midnight Tuesday night, he was struck by a car, the driver stayed with him until paramedics arrived. He was intubated and rushed to the ER. They scanned his brain and discovered his skull was fractured and he suffered a massive brain injury that he unfortunately could not recover from. He took his last breath just before 6pm Wednesday 1/22 with his wife and son, his parents, his 3 siblings, his nieces and nephew, his brothers in law, and a couple of his closest friends by his side. It was one of the most painful things I have ever been through. A bright light taken too soon. He was a good man. I thank everyone who has reached out. Though my heart is in a billion pieces right now, my heart warms everytime I read the comments from those who loved him. We will let you know when and where his celebration of life will be held. Below is the link for the GoFundMe that his friend was kind enough to organize for us. We need a little help as this was so unexpected. Thank you, God bless. You can also donate Via Zelle or Venmo, message me for phone number.
