The finished design: bold print rayon challis wrap dress with flutter sleeves. It was worth the time to pad my dress form to match the client's body as much as possible. 👓🪡🧵

Recently started to pad my dress forms to get a more customized fit for the custom orders I do. This has cut down on the number of fittings I usually schedule because the samples are made with dress forms that are much closer to the client's actual measurements/body type. I also appreciate how this allows me to practice my draping skills. I typically draft patterns using a sloper, but have come to lean more on draping for a better preview of what to expect from the fabric. 👓🪡🧵

It's a wrap for my first blog series about fast fashion. It's been such an eye-opening project to work on. Many of the facts I learned about the industry I had only heard of through headlines and buzzwords; it was quite different to read the details of industry practices. Although disheartening, I still love fashion, and I know things can be different. Only through honest criticism can you make what you love even better. 👓

A little more than halfway through the blog series I've been working on. In addition to sharpening my writing skills and learning the best practices for blogging and marketing, I'm also learning much more about the environmental impact the fashion industry has. I was aware of more than a few industry practices, but mostly only from headlines. Taking the time to dig deeper is disheartening, but I know it will improve my shopping habits as well as make me a more mindful designer and maker.

Excited to announce the soft launch of my new website. Working on it has been a challenge, however, I am proud of my results. I still have more to build out for it, but in the meantime I have links to all my updated social media platforms, as well as share buttons for my blog. Feedback is very welcome.
