Why are we so neurotic about getting dressed? (Or why am I?).
I just spent a good 30 minutes looking for a shirt to wear with my navy shorts. I tried on about 10 shirts. Every shirt prompted me to notice something I did not like about my body. Such as: My b***s look too big~I think my shoulders are uneven~I wish my hips had more curve~My ass is flat.
YIKES.
And now I’m back to the shirt I started with.
What if we let go of our judgements, our preconceived notions, and our unrealistic expectations? What if we stopped being so darn critical of ourselves?
That. Would. Be. Awesome.
Getting dressed should be fun, expressive, and light-hearted. Let’s do this.
I’m trying 💕.

We all want to find that perfect legging~my clients ask me, I see conversations in FB groups looking for recommendations, friends ask me, and so on. Everyone has a differing opinion on this. I used to be a die-hard Lululemon shopper~I've been there and done that. I still love their leggings, but there are so many more options to explore. What are your favorite leggings?? Here are my current TOP 3:

1. ZELLA~"Live In High Waist Leggings": These leggings are prefect for the days when you want to throw on leggings and an oversized t-shirt with sandals. These leggings really suck it in and make you look nice and smooth. I don't wear these for yoga or exercise. I feel a little constrained😉 But I highly recommend them to go with sweaters, flannels, t-shirts, etc.(well, anything that covers your bum!) for a legging-kind-of-day. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/zella-live-in-high-waist-leggings/4312529?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=BLACK

2. OLD NAVY~"High Rise Compression Leggings": Sooo, I just bought these last week and I've worn them twice to workout in already. I love them! I will say that they most likely won't last years because the quality isn't stellar. But, at this price point, I'm good with replacing them after I've trained, hiked, and yoga'd them to death.

3. ATHLETA~"High Rise Chatarunga Tights": I've been shopping Athleta for many, many years. I've tried a lot of their yoga pants, and these are my favorite. They may be my favorite yoga pant of any brand. Yeah, I think they are. The High Rise Chatarunga tight is unbelievably comfortable. There is no need to adjust during your class or on the trail. They are awesome for all workouts (um, and pretty much everything in between paired with the right top). The High Rise is a newer option, and it is what makes them gold for me. Buy them, love them. Really.
(Side Note: Another thing I love about Athleta is that they use models of all sizes in their ads. It's refreshing, and it's real. Thank you, Athleta.)

Who likes to shop for swimsuits? Haha~me neither! Last month, I was shopping for a new suit and it was pretty disturbing. The selection was disappointing, the styles were less than wearable (for me :)), and I could not find anything remotely flattering. Thinking about it now, that's usually how it goes. It wasn't just this year. WHY. WHY. WHY. I just want a flattering, somewhat fun, well-fitting, and appropriate swimsuit. I am always going back and forth between bikini, tankini, and 1-piece. I think if I exercise a little more I could rock a bikini. But I'm 47~why am I giving myself such a goal and is it even appropriate??? Tankinis ride up and bug me. And don't even get me started on the 1-piece~I feel like I'm going to a gymnastics class in a 1-piece. UGH.
This week, I'm going to do a few posts on different styles of suits, places to shop, and shopping tactics. Regardless of the swimsuit we choose, I truly believe we are our worst critic. Silence that inner critic, embrace your body, and have fun. It's summer after all.

Some mornings you just don't want to get dressed. Hmmm, or even get out of bed. So how can you possibly look put together when you feel like crap? I am loving my flannels. I used to dislike flannels IMMENSELY. I thought I looked horrible in them and I thought they were too masculine. Recently, I've gotten into them. My fave outfit is skinny jeans, riding boots, a flannel, and some type of necklace or earrings. Once someone told me I looked like a mountain woman wearing this outfit. I'll take that as a compliment~I love the mountains.
There truly are so many ways you can dress a flannel; all of which are simple and easy to put together. Ready, Set, Flannel.

"Do you have any cocktail dresses with sleeves?" I think that was one of the most asked questions from clients in my retail career. Its a legit challenge~most cocktail dresses are strapless or sleeveless. We want to cover those arms, but, at the same time, we want to feel confident and look gorgeous (of course we do!) There are options~festive ways to cover your upper arms/shoulders that don't look like outerwear, but, instead, part of your stunning outfit. From classic to funky, from simple to detailed, take a peak at the slideshow I've created and see if anything speaks to you. PM me with any questions~I'm happy to offer advice and suggestions for you as you put together your holiday party outfits!

"Don't wear anything that isn't you. Wearing a trendy garment or a complete look to please others or fit in will never look right if you are not comfortable in it. Remember, you have to be you! The best trend is your personal style, which comes as a result of having confidence in your own fashion choices." Susan Moses/The Art of Dressing Curves.

Well, don't these ladies look amazing in their motorcycle jackets? HMMM, can I pull this look off? Is it my style? Is it too trendy? I'm more of a classic girl. But maybe the motorcycle jacket IS a classic. Or maybe I'm just talking myself into it... Regardless, I recently bought a faux lather moto jacket(not such an investment!) and I love it. I've only worn it once thanks to the warm LA weather but I felt sassy and lovely, and that's what matters most. Maybe it's trendy, but it's also a classic. Keep it simple and wear it well.

Turtlenecks. Some women are not so keen on them. They worry that they are not flattering due to various reasons~broad shoulders, a full bust, a curvy torso. Yes, turtlenecks can make the neck and torso look heavier than they are. But there is a trick: don't add any more weight around the area. For example, pull your hair back and go without jewelry(dangly ear rings + necklaces are a no-no). Keep it simple, and be sure to wear a supportive bra which will help create a smooth silhouette. Turtlenecks are super versatile~worn alone, under a dress, under a blazer or poncho, over a blouse, dress it up, dress it down. As always, have fun and try something new!

In September, I mentioned n**e pumps on my list of "11 Fall Wardrobe Pieces That Make Getting Dressed Easier". I found this great collage that demonstrates the versatility of the n**e pump. If you don't wear heels, n**e wedges or flats are equally awesome. Play with it and experiment~truly, it is hard to go wrong! **epumps
