I was raised by a woman who never truly wanted children.
And even as a child, I could feel it.
Not through words alone, but through distance. Through silence. Through the absence of warmth.
It felt as if I was being punished simply for being born.
My mother and I were never friends.
We never spent afternoons shopping together.
We never shared secrets late at night.
We never laughed over small things the way mothers and daughters are supposed to.
I used to watch other women with their daughters and wonder what that kind of love felt like.
One day, I laid my head on my father’s shoulder and cried.
And I told him something that had been breaking my heart for years:
“Mom never told me she loves me.”
He stayed quiet for a moment.
Then he answered softly:
“I know. She never told me either.”
That moment stayed with me forever.
Because suddenly I understood something painful: some people grow up without knowing how to give love, even when they want to.
Some wounds travel silently from one generation to the next.
For a long time, I carried that emptiness inside me.
I thought maybe I was difficult to love.
Maybe I was too emotional.
Too serious.
Too much.
But life eventually taught me something different.
It taught me that the people who grow up without tenderness often become the ones who crave it most deeply.
And maybe that is why I create what I create today.
Not only clothes.
But comfort.
Softness.
Emotion.
A quiet place for people who also grew up feeling unseen.
“Cherish your mother” is something I heard many times in life.
And I understand it now in a different way.
Not because every story is perfect.
Not because every mother knows how to love gently.
But because every human being carries battles we may never fully understand.
My story is not about blame.
It is about becoming the kind of warmth I once needed myself.

The Story Behind Mimu

My story started a long time ago.

I was born in a communist country where feelings didn’t really exist.
Everything was gray.

Life was already planned for us:
no happiness,
no sadness,
no anxiety,
no freedom to truly feel.

You simply followed one direction.

For many years, I became cold, calculated, and emotionally silent.
Not because I wanted to be — but because that was survival.

In 2017, I arrived in the United States.

On my very first date, someone asked me:

“Do you ever smile?”

The question shocked me.

I had never seen myself that way before.

That moment stayed with me.

Then life changed again.

I was diagnosed with cancer.

At first, I refused to believe it.
I refused reality itself.

But something unexpected happened.

The doctors who treated me didn’t only see a patient.
They saw my story.

And for the first time in my life, I learned something that changed me forever:

“It’s okay not to be okay.”

For the first time, I allowed myself to be vulnerable.
To stop pretending I was always strong.
To stop feeling guilty because I was no longer “perfect.”

I allowed myself to be sick.
And then… I allowed myself to fight.

That is where Mimu was born.

Mimu represents the emotions we hide, the softness we suppress, and the courage we discover when life breaks us apart.

Because sometimes the strongest people are the ones who finally allow themselves to feel.
