Founded and operated by Veterans, Nine Line is determined to continue to answer the nation's call to ensure the survival of liberty and prevent the deterioration of American Values. At its core, Nine Line is a give-back organization, striving to give back to the military and first responder communities that fought and died for our freedoms. On this day in 1925, Audie Murphy, the most decorated American Soldier of WW2 is born. Murphy received numerous awards, one of which was the Medal of Honor for single-handedly holding off a German company in 1945. Audie Murphy was born in Kingston, TX. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, his sister helped him falsify age documents to join. He was first turned down for being underweight but eventually was able to enlist. He saw the invasion of Sicily, the Battle of Anzio, the liberation of Rome, and the invasion of southern France.
After the war, Murphy began his acting career which lasted 21 years. Audie Murphy died in a plane crash in 1971 shortly after his 46th birthday. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where his grave is one of the most visited.

June 18, 1983 - Dr. Sally Ride, a NASA astronaut & physicist, becomes the first American woman (& third woman overall) to fly in space. Dr. Ride flew aboard the challenger. She spent more than 343 hours in space during her time at NASA.
