In case you missed the newsletter a few weeks ago, we have another option for pick up now! Scheduled contactless pickup is now available on our website.

When you receive your email that your items are complete and ready for pickup you will now have two options available for pickup:

🙋‍♀️ In-person
🛍️ Contactless

💲Contactless pickups will have two payment options that you'll need to select - Square payment link for credit card or cash/check payment. I will text or email you the payment link when that option is selected. If you select cash/check, you will leave your payment in the small box that is inside the purple bin. I will collect it after your item is picked up.

👖For a contactless pickup you items will be placed in a bag labeled with you name and put in the purple bin outside the studio entrance prior to your scheduled pickup time. There may be multiple bags in the bin so please be sure to double check the tag and your items.

👗If you're picking up an item that's been altered to fit differently, rather than repaired, an In-person pickup is recommended so you can try it on and we can discuss if the fit needs to be dailed in further or other adjustments need to be made. But it is available if you're in a rush and prefer to try things on at home. But please reach out if you have any questions about the fit, or your repair, after you've had a chance to review them.

If you have any thoughts or questions don't hesitate to reach out. I'm hoping this will provide folks with more flexibility to pick up their things and me more time to keep on the work of fixing up your stuff. 🤗

Converted this vintage wool dress to a more usable jacket. It was inherited from a great aunt and finally getting used again!

Some duplicate stitches to cover up the toe of this stocking that was discolored from the fireplace and a knitted patch to cover up the name on one side. Ready for Christmas 2026!

Converted this hand knit dog sweater of a client whose dog recently passed into a cowl so she can still have them close to her. 🥹🐶

Removed the chest panel and used the yarn to crochet steek the collar and hand stitch the ends together.

This tattered Carhartt jacket belonged to my client's late father and her mom wanted to continue to wear it. We decided to do some fun visible plaid flannel patches. Life of jacket and a father/ huband's memory extended. ❤🥺

Our studio is usually closed for appointments on Fridays, so saying we're closed for tomorrow's strike would be meaningless. As with all movements, there's more than one way to participate. In support of the strike, Frayed Threads Mending will be donating 10% of our January profits to the Northwest Immigrants Rights Project (.w.i.r.p ).

We will continue to strive to be a Seattle micro business that is anti-capitalist, feminist, inclusive and sustainable. Remember that repair is resistance and do what you can to support your neighbors.

Hope your new year is off to a good start! 2025 was a solid year here at Frayed Threads. We brought in over 3,900 items for repair or alterations. Which beat last year's total by around 200. I had lots of help from , .sweater.repair, and Miriam, which is always appreciated.

I focused most of my classes this year , but also taught one back in November, which was lovely

I don't currently have any grand new plans for Frayed Threads this year. Mostly holding things steady and doing my best to balance getting you your things in a reasonable time, taking time to rest and work on some of my personal projects. I look forward to seeing you in the studio in 2026!!

Mending for holiday gifts! 🎁

The gold dots on a favorite tie that was inherited from grandpa were wearing away. We found a matching thread, disassembled the tie and meticulously filled them back in by hand. We primarily focused on the dots that would be visible when wearing the tie. Refreshed! 🪡

Sharing another nerdy, sciencey project. 🤓 A client reached out asking about making a custom cover for a large telescope. They wanted something that would cover the base and hold a plywood cover in place to prevent dust from getting on the lenses.

Since it was so large he couldn't bring it to my studio, but provided some of the fabrication drawings and additional dimensions we needed. We used a 400-D packcloth and some simple nylon webbing and buckles to create the straps.

Ready for some serious star gazing! 🌌🌠🔭
