Okay. So apparently this is REALLY happening.

Imara Jo Designs is going to be a founding maker at Saltwater Collective!!!

My stuff in an actual store. Where people who are not my friends and therefore are under no social obligation to tell me I'm talented can walk in and BUY IT.

I am equal parts ridiculously excited, incredibly honored, and mildly freaking out.

Somewhere along the way, Imara Jo stopped feeling like “Anglea made some stuff” and started becoming this little world of its own.

I am so damn honored to be part of Saltwater Collective and I cannot wait for you to see what I've been working on.

A custom collar for Big Handsome Hank! 🐾

This handsome guy is getting a 2" wide half-check martingale, handmade just for him.

So, what exactly is a half-check martingale?

Unlike a standard buckle collar, a martingale has a limited tightening action when your dog pulls or backs up. A half-check uses a short chain section for that movement, while the wide fabric portion sits comfortably around the neck. When properly fitted, it tightens only to a predetermined point, not continuously like a choke chain.

That makes it especially useful for dogs who can back out of a traditional collar, dogs with heads and necks that are similar in size, and bigger, stronger dogs whose humans want a little more security and control on walks.

And because practical doesn't have to mean boring… Hank's is 28 inches of glorious color. ❤️

We’re back. ❤️

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and life looks a little different around here these days. With the ongoing health issues Maze and Khamani have been dealing with, being home with them became a priority. So I made the move to working from home, and somewhere in that transition, I found myself ready to refocus on Imara Jo and what I want its next chapter to look like.

First up: new two-tone collars! Maze and Khamani are showing off the new style here, mixing a solid color with a print while keeping the same sturdy, layered construction our collars are known for.

And coming soon: Once Upon Twilight, our first seasonal chapter, in shades of plum, peach, coral, lavender, smoky blue and sage green. These two gorgeous florals will be paired with coordinating lavender and smoky blue fabrics throughout the collection.

We’re also expanding our sustainable home goods with reusable bowl covers, lunch bags, snack and sandwich bags, bread bags and more. Many will feature food-grade PUL: a soft, flexible, waterproof lining that creates a washable, reusable alternative to disposable plastic bags and wraps.

And for our fellow book lovers, we’re adding quilted book/Kindle/ereader sleeves with coordinating bookmarks, made to protect your current read while adding a little beauty to something you carry every day. Softly padded, thoughtfully sewn, and available in fabrics from each seasonal chapter, because good books deserve to travel well too. 📚

It feels really good to be creating again, this time with a much clearer vision of what Imara Jo is becoming.
