đź‘‹Hand placement: not glamorous, very important, weirdly satisfying.

It might seem like a tiny thing, but hand placement matters. It helps with control, keeps the fabric moving smoothly, and builds confidence at the machine. Those little habits are what make sewing feel less chaotic and more like, “Wait… I actually know how to do this.”

Technically it followed me home.

Every time I walk into the fabric store, I remind myself I cannot save them all. And then somehow a few bolts look at me like, “Please… take us home.”

What am I supposed to do? Be heartless?

The laundry can wait. The fabric has been waiting longer. Probably.

Sewing instructions: somehow both very specific and absolutely cryptic at the same time.

Jess finished this Ashton Top from Helen’s Closet mostly on her own, with just a little help from me nearby to nudge, translate, and decipher the occasional “wait… what does this want me to do?” moment.

And honestly? That’s sewing sometimes. You’re cruising along, feeling like a confident little garment-making genius, and then one sentence in the instructions suddenly feels like it was written by a Victorian ghost with a seam allowance obsession.

That’s where having someone next to you helps. Not to take over, but to help you understand the steps, trust yourself, and keep going.

Whether you’re sewing your first garment, stuck on a pattern instruction, confused by construction order, or just need someone to say “yes, that actually does go that way,” I can help you make sense of it.

Nothing good happens after 11pm except adding things to cart.

Customs asked if I had anything to declare. I said, “Only poor financial judgment.” 🤣

But honestly? The satisfaction of saying, “Thanks, I made it” is priceless.

If you asked me what sewing looks like, I’d say a little like this…

Fabric everywhere, tiny decisions, the occasional dramatic pause, and somehow turning a pile of thread and hope into something beautiful.

Respect the scissors. Admire the fabric. Bring snacks. 🧵

If you sew, these will make perfect sense.
