New beginnings! House of Daggers is joining the Big Blue community of artists. This wonderful studio was my home away from home as the fire situation was getting sorted this summer. kindly shared their space and now we get to continue adding to the creative ether.

We’ll be setting up shop in September but look out for invites to the launch and monthly open studios!

My understanding of sizing is actual measurements so our size options honor individual body proportions. These options will evolve as we learn from feedback and production flow. For now, this is what feels right to make sure the design is truly size inclusive. Tailor’s gonna tailor, even in fashion. 🖤

I’m bummed to announce this but we had a fire in my building last week. It was an accident and everyone is ok. Our studios are in tact but the building is not yet clear of fire suppressant and dust. I’ll be able to reschedule fittings and get back into a regular production flow once we get a green light to come back.

Super grateful to our building managers who are working hard to reduce impact to our businesses.

I'm so grateful to .ahmad22 + for spending time with me this summer and sharing my origin story. My path is as curvy as it gets, challenging during many turns, and yet has always managed to stay true to inspiration. Not too shabby for my first 3-piece suit ever! My “client” requested a slim fit, single breasted look. This is constructed for a 1st fitting, aka the tailor’s fitting, meaning it’s mostly basted together with some machine stitching and doesn’t have all the internal structure and tailoring. The goal for this fitting is to understand what changes are needed for the master pattern.

In the first image, I’m exploring removing draglines in the side body by pinching the shoulder ends.

In the second image, I’m addressing the jacket length. The “standard” jacket length is to be slightly above knuckles but longer arms will make this length too long for this style and their proportions. So you can’t rely on the “standard”. You’ve got to use your eyeballs and best judgement… the old fashioned way.

Alexander McQueen was easily the most important fashion designer of my generation. He left school at 16 to apprentice on Savile Row where he learned to cut jackets at Anderson & Sheppard, then trousers at Gieves & Hawkes. He became a renowned pattern cutter working for theatrical costumers, avant-garde and couture designers before even going to fashion school. Just an incredible technician and brilliant mind. Really wish he were still producing work but his impact is long lasting. 🖤🗡🖤
