Nat + sus/the shop

Nat + sus/the shop We are a Brick and Mortar shop and Website selling natural and sustainable fashion for women. We believe in "clothing with a conscience". Am I right, ladies?!?

Ever since I can remember, I have loved fashion. Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories, all of it. Shopping should bring us joy, and finding your own style and making your mark should be organic. For me, that journey has been a long one, as I've tried MANY, many styles over the years. Not all of them great, but I'm a fan of expressing myself and living out loud. "What you see, is what you get." No

regrets--regardless of how embarrassing an outfit decision may have been, and we've all been there. I've always had an eye for Classic pieces, that I would have "forever," along with eclectic style, and practicality. Clothing that I would actually wear and feel good wearing was the goal. Not all items we consume make us feel good. This started to occur to me more and more the older I got. Then, in my late 30's, I unconsciously started buying, and investing in high quality pieces that were made with natural fabrics only. Poly and Acrylic were instant 'NO' decision factors when shopping for clothing. 'Fast fashion' brands appealed less to me for those trendy items I would incorporate from season to season. It just wasn't worth it to me anymore. Quality over quantity became my motto. I started shopping more at Eileen Fisher, CP Shades, Bryn Walker and other brands that were using Organic Cotton, Linen, Eco Cashmere, etc., and were also educating their audience/customers on why it all matters. Made in the USA, responsibly sourced fabrics, Fair Trade, ethically and sustainably produced in other countries began to make sense to me. Global warming is a real problem. It's overwhelming to think about, and most people, I find, try not to. I have to. I have a daughter that I want our planet to still be here for, and generations to come. We all have a choice when it comes to recycling, composting, up cycling, repurposing, and living as green as we can, and what we wear is part of it all as well. We all have to get dressed in the morning, so why not make it a conscious decision to feel good about? I made a conscious decision to support the Slow Fashion Movement. And I also have this exciting opportunity to be part of it by offering natural and sustainable clothing for women, as well as artisan accessories specifically procured with all of this in mind. I'm able to play a seemingly small role with something I'm passionate about, and doing my part with the goal of the greater good in mind, if you will. Introducing nat+sus, clothing to feel good in, and about! And kicking us off on this journey, is a brand I’ve bought, worn, and loved for over 20 years, and was the initial inspiration for this business. CP Shades. You may not be familiar with them, you may remember their [now defunct] stores, or more recently shopped in their flagship store in Santa Monica, CA. Either way, this was a brand that I felt embodied everything for the direction I was taking in my own personal journey with clothing. I feel very fortunate to bring it to you through our website, and plan to include like-minded brands as we grow. We hope you will follow us on our journey.
