Today I talked with a police officer about a homeless woman I see every day and how she refuses help because she does not trust anyone. He said she is traumatized and resistant. I argued with him that she is in pain, I can see her feet are extremely swollen and she has bandages on them. I think I convinced him to try new theories and methods with her based on her pain. Pain will make people do things they are not aware of.

I hope that the way I live, the things I make, plants I grow and the small things I do every day will help improve this messed up world we have made for ourselves.

I went for a long low tide walk at my favorite restoration spot today and I also went to a fruit club lecture and learned alot about growing blueberries from a woman with a PhD in horticulture specializing in small fruit and blueberries. I learned that we need more parasitic wasps to eat the spotted wing drosophyla, which likes to lay eggs in blueberries. I also learned that commercially grown blueberries are sorted for size, and the largest ones are sent to Japan where they pay a lot of money for them . This seems like a waste of fuel to send blueberries to Japan when they could grow their own and also when China is the global leader in blueberry production and a much closer neighbor.
