There is a beautiful essay by N'tima Preusser called 'When Love Feels Heavy' that has circulated Facebook for years now (seriously if you haven't read it, go now - linked below) and it brings us to tears every. single. time. Specifically:
"You will feel guilty for not measuring up. You will feel guilty for feeling guilty. You will feel guilty for feeling guilty for feeling guilty."
We started Bear & Bunny Co. in 2014, as a way to provide stylish, well-fitted clothing to our babies and our friends' babies, that lasted longer than the stuff we were buying (every couple months) at the big box stores. We dreamed of building a side hustle that would help support our growing families while allowing us to spend more time with our kids while they were young - and that's exactly what we did:
-Over 2600 leggings sold, each pair handmade by mothers in the USA
-12 retail partners around the country that believed in us and carried our brand
-10 seamstresses employed - all work-from-home mamas and military spouses that we were honored to help support in some small way
As our company has grown and demanded more hours from us, we've gotten away from the very reason we started: to soak up the privilege of being present with our babies. So that's what we're going back to. But we absolutely would not be here today without the support of each of you, and it's been a wild ride.
For every purchase, referral to friends, like, comment, share, for all the friends that listened to our ideas, to all the people we met at events around the country, for all the time our families sacrificed - we are eternally grateful. We've truly enjoyed getting to see our leggings on your little bunnies and being some small part of your families memories. We hope your leggings get many more years of wear and hand-me-downs!
With love,
Heather + Sarah
