I turned one of the hardest years of my life into a hand‑knitted rose sweater. In this video, I share the story behind it & how grief, loneliness, and a long winter found their way into every stitch and rose motif.
The bobble stitches represent snow, and the cold, which is the challenge I was navigating. The hand‑knitted roses bloom through that “snow” as a reminder that beauty can still appear in the middle of hardship. Leaf‑like motifs travel up and down the fabric, symbolizing renewal, growth, and the slow, non‑linear process of healing.
This sweater is entirely hand‑knitted with no machines, just hands, knitting needles, and time. Each one takes over 300 hours to create (more than two months of dedicated work), which means every sweater, like every story, is one of a kind.
For me, this piece holds a story of resilience while staying grounded. It’s proof that we can rebuild ourselves, tenderly and slowly, even after some of the darkest seasons of our lives.
