Pinkpop Festival, 2018, Eddie Vedder shares the story behind one of Pearl Jam’s most iconic moments: his stage dive at the same festival, 26 years earlier.
Back in 1992, he climbed the camera rig wearing his now-famous Tivoli T-shirt (from the venue in Utrecht where the band played just weeks before, on March 4)
Then he jumped.
Today marks the anniversary of that legendary Pinkpop performance. If you were the camera operator on that ramp... what would you have done? 👀

In December 1989, Kevin Staab — founder of 90 The Original — met Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Jason Everman after a Soundgarden show at the Mason Jar in Phoenix.
He gave them the first box of 90 tees.
Two days later, outside the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles — the night they recorded Louder Than Live — this photo was taken. Chris is wearing the Stretch. The first 90 tee he ever wore.
Six weeks later, Kim Thayil was photographed wearing it in Chicago.
They actually wore it.
The Stretch has been gone since 1992. Today it’s back.

The 1994 MTV VMAs. Superunknown had just debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, knocked Pink Floyd off the top, and was already one of the most talked-about albums of the year. “Black Hole Sun” took home Best Hard Rock Video that night.

And here are Chris and Kim — talking to Kurt Loder, completely on their own terms. By 1994, alternative had become the mainstream, and nobody looked more quietly aware of that irony than Soundgarden.

November 27, 2000. Royal Albert Hall, London.
The Who closed their world tour that night with a charity show for the Teenage Cancer Trust — and Eddie Vedder walked out to sing “I’m One.”
The song is from Quadrophenia, Pete Townshend’s 1973 rock opera about a young Mod named Jimmy — searching for himself, not quite fitting anywhere. Townshend once said about writing it: “I was a fu***ng loser. I think everybody feels that way at some point.”
The show ended with both of them on stage together for “See Me, Feel Me,” joined by kids from the Teenage Cancer Trust. No one in that room wanted it to stop.
