Sharing this in light of having my post stolen from another account.
Unfortunately this isn’t the first time this has happened to me but it seems to cut deeper when it was something as special as creating my wedding dress. All too often I see accounts that repost artist’s work without doing the research to pay them the respect of tagging them in the post / asking them for consent to repost it to their account. This is really gross. It’s clear these accounts do this to boost their own following- they’ve done nothing in collaboration with the artist.
It’s totally unfair and exploitative of artist’s work- especially those that have a smaller following that they’ve worked to build organically. This account had over 1 million views on my work- had my TikTok watermark not been on the video there would’ve been no way for anyone to know it was mine.
I share this because I urge you to be conscious about what you consume on social media especially in respect to art. If you collaborate with someone, tag them. If you want to repost someone’s work, tag them. If their handle isn’t visible, find out who they are or leave the post alone. Some people’s livelihood depends on eyes seeing their work, respect that.
With that being said, I know I’m that girl and nobody could do it like me 💅🏼 xoxo
