These gorgeous beaded teardrop earrings by Audrey Medwayosh (BC) will be included in 'this is a show about grief' opening Sept. 11th

Audrey Medwayosh:
As an Indigenous (Anishinaabe) artist, I explore a lot of concepts using beads. It requires me to be meditative, working with one bead at a time. These wearable beaded tear drops are a product of slow moving meditation, and they invite the viewer to ask: what shape does your grief take? Tears produced from different emotional responses appear differently under a microscope. The tears here are from tears of grief. I think that when we take time to work with our grief deeply, internally, introspectively, we can find that it is a generative process. One that forcefully requires we attend to it, lest we drown in it. When we look at our grief up close we may find that it is beautifully shaped.
