Sneak peek- BEFORE AND AFTER for a Mexican Hacienda” -More to come from Casa de Wuest, but here are a couple of the before and after pictures. My sweet sister in law has patiently waited for me to help her with her home . Mexican Hacienda was the vibe she wanted, so that became my goal.
After opening up the space by moving some furniture around, i added a few new items to the already great pieces she had.
Trying to keep the budget down, I found the big wooden mirror (next to the armoire)) at Goodwill in town . The silver bench below was from an Austin Goodwill, but it had well worn red fabric on top of some (tired) honey wood.
I grabbed 1.5 yards of medium blue and white fabric (that had the same feel that Cheli wanted) and i spray painted the rest a shiny silver that resembles pewter.
For their many family game nights, I found a large (picnic type) basket at a thrift store and placed it underneath to provide them with more storage.
The little wooden chair by her china hutch was on the side of the road in much need of some TLC. Those who know me know that I am NOT above pulling over for a free “gift.”
I painted it white and covered it in blue and white striped fabric. Combined with a round antique table and new mirror that now sits just in from the back door- and- where I hung a piece of driftwood that has ceramic mexican k***s, they now have another designated spot to drop their coats, wallets, purses, keys etc....
Form and function CAN live together in harmony. Who knew?!
This project was such a blessing for me. I had so much fun playing house, as Cheli let me have full creative control.
I love this family so much! I hope this labor of love provides for many more game nights, lots of warm snuggles, and of course, movies and popcorn!
