This client is a former Girl Scout of mine and making her dream come true dancing for multiple houses in Dallas and Fort Worth, while getting her education online at Penn State University . Needless to say, she wasn’t able to come to me in person so with texts between her mom and me, we figured out she could repurpose this practice Leo with about 3” removed across the width. I narrowed the sides with a basting stitch followed by some serged seams, and finished off the leg and arm holes by hand. Gives her one more day’s grace before laundry day!

This bride-to-be brought me her mother’s wedding gown in March 2026 and wondered if we could revamp for her September rehearsal…or her June bridal shower! We pulled it off!

mom had gifted the dress to her a while ago and probably didn’t even remember that she had it . My client wanted to honor the original dress, but definitely wanted it updated for the party atmosphere of the rehearsal or the shower.

The sleeves came off easily as well as sections of the waist, covered in dangling beads. Her first thought was to make it strapless, but without any boning and the goal of trying to make the shower, I asked her to take a look at retaining the lace and making the dress sleeveless. We edged the sleeves with fabric from the skirt.

When the flirty hem was decided, she asked to keep the big bow. We had to scale that back a little bit and reposition it on her waist.

Bride felt beautiful.
Mom cried.
Guests loved.
Mission accomplished!

This was a refreshing change - tea length dresses for a bridal party! This burnt orange from Azazie Official didn’t need a hem for my client - just some bodice work. I loved the color!

Ironically, I saw a wedding party yesterday on the streets of Pittsburgh - all were tea length! No hem, no bustle. I congratulated the bride and she had a big smile, her hands free, and she was leading her crew around for some fun photos at the National Aviary . Not every bride needs a train!

Love seeing some sensible choices for different types of weddings!

It’s been years since I designed shirts for our own family, but Nick Brower and I were so excited to combine the celebrations for our Gold Award and Eagle Scout…so we named the party “the Golden Eagle”. I love that they see how interconnected their scouting journeys have been and didn’t hesitate to celebrate together! The kids didn’t want another shirt but they admitted it was pretty cool. Shoutout to the high quality tshirts from Life is Good and the gold easyweed HTV vinyl by Siser North America as it truly made this work!

Another Azazie Official floral for the win! This amazing church wedding hosted a collection of ladies wearing the Blue Cottage Floral and my client chose the halter style. She needed a hem, but also some work on the neckline and side straps due to her very petite figure.

With summer weather cooperating, I’ve resumed taking more unique requests. This is being restored and while I don’t have the tools and knowledge to do a complete fix, I was able to use what I had to make the chair stuffing go back inside! I used thick cording, a curved “mattress” needle, and borrowed some brute grip strength from the for the final pulls and knots. My client was happy and his budget was happy!

I am not a leather work or shoe repair person by any means, but have enough tools and knowledge to be “dangerous”. This client had a bag that was out of warranty and the one strap had come loose.

I hand stitched the strap onto the cross bar, but couldn’t get it attached to the back pad (too thick). So to get it tilted the correct way and add a bit of strength, I used and clamped it for 24 hours.

I warned them not to put all the stress on that side, but to wear it properly as a backpack or hold from the top handle.

It’s back in use!

Yesterday I went screeching back to the roots of Solutions by Tatiana. I used to make a lot of our desserts and gift them to keep my food allergy female offspring included. She is perfectly capable now of baking and taking care of herself, so it has been a few years.

Many of our friends have joined us in the “sandwich generation” and find ourselves navigating teens, tweens and “recycled teens”. My friend found herself pulled back and forth with care giving and her graduation baker bailed on her the night before.

Cue the sobbing breakdown.

Thankfully she reached out and the “village” kicked in. We are all tapped out these days, but everyone can do a little.

One friend found and purchased cupcakes, another found and purchased cookies. I went to work with my Cricut and a surplus of sticky paper and toothpicks from my parents’ latest downsize.

It’s not a big in the mind of the grad, but hopefully her stressed out parents see it as a hug. You are seen.
