For anyone who has seen the news about new tariffs taking effect this month on cabinets, furniture (50%), and lumber (10%), and was/is considering a kitchen, bath or other renovation involving cabinetry, this post is for YOU!

If you weren’t already in the market for custom cabinetry, you might want to seriously consider it now! The pre-manufactured lines of cabinets coming from outside the U.S. are going to be even more expensive than they already were yesterday, and they’re still going to come with all the same limitations in configuration and colors as they did before, too.

Add to this that a lot of the cabinets that are pre-manufactured are sold to you through a dealer or designer who are adding anywhere from a 20-50% markup on top of that now inflated price because of the tariffs, you start to wonder why you’re paying for all of these limitations.

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in an endless loop of scrolling Pinterest, dreaming about a fully custom kitchen, bath, or builtin, NOW is the time where it makes more sense than ever to buy custom than going with a pre-manufactured cabinet line.

And here’s a pro-tip: most reputable designers have no interest in marking up custom work. So if you’re working with a designer, going custom isn’t going to add to your overall project cost. It’s just shifting money that would have been spent on a product with so many limitations, to one that will open up all the possibilities you could ever imagine for your project.

Here’s the call to action: I’m now booking projects starting in 2026. I am offering a chance to lock in 2025 pricing on your project for next year if you book your custom kitchen/bath/or builtin project with a signed contract and deposit before December 31st 2025. This EPIC 12” x 9” wall to wall, floor to ceiling mudroom build in Shipley’s Choice is finally in the books! The finisher did an amazing job on the paint and I was able to get the hardware installed yesterday. I love how this came out and I know the customer loves it too. There is SO much storage in this thing it’s crazy!⠀

I love how this project build came out! Just wrapped on this basement media center featuring a center tower with an electric fireplace and large TV niche, flanked on both sides with these lower 48” cabinets for tons of storage and four super sleak white oak floating shelves! This was a BIG project and I pulled in a good friend of mine to help me get it done quickly. Thankful for his help and for some good laughs and company along the way! ⠀

I also couldn’t be more grateful to have done this for such an awesome client who is the ideal of ideal clients. The next one I’ll be doing is for the same customer and can’t wait to get that one started here in a few weeks.

How stylish and functional is YOUR mudroom??! Is it THIS nice?? ⠀

Just wrapped up this mudroom redo for a wonderful client in Severna Park, MD. This mudroom makeover included closing off a redundant doorway, designing/building/installing this utility cabinet, bench, cubby, and upper cabinet to fit into what was once an uninspiring and dysfunctional mudroom. ⠀

I love the combination of the White Oak bench and cubby shelves finished with Rubio Monocoat “Natural” with the off white finish from Target Coatings (SW Alabaster) and the matte brass handles/pulls from Rejuvenation hardware. Client is still doing some additional paint work in this room, but the cabinetry portion of this is a wrap. What do you think? What is your favorite paint color and hardware combination?⠀

Custom White Oak bi-parting barn doors. The customer was THRILLED with how these came out and I have to say my reaction to seeing them installed is the same. They look amazing in this space and provide an elegant, warm and modern esthetic with all the function the client desired to achieve additional privacy for their home office. As always, every custom commission begins with a CAD design so the customer knows what they’re getting before we start. Ecstatic that this exceeded their expectations! Another build wrapped up for another happy customer!

This client approached me looking for a way to keep their sports equipment and shoes organized so they could reclaim space in their garage. They have some serious up and coming athletes so we agreed to give them the look and feel of a true locker room like you would see in a college or professional locker room to solve this issue for them. I love how this turned out and so did they.

I started on another awesome project this week for a new client of mine! This customer was looking for to solve a common storage challenge in their garage with where to store mountains of kids athletic equipment. (the struggle is real… 😂).
