If you’re near a ballfield or a basketball court, you’re probably not far from KP Morton.
Over the years, KP has coached just about everything – including softball, basketball, soccer, T-ball, and even a year of football.
“I did one year of P*e Wee football and that was enough,” said KP with a smile.
She says she doesn’t know for sure how many years she’s coached and estimates it to be around 20. She takes pride in helping her players improve and develop confidence.
“Last year, our girls basketball team finished third, and this year we won the league,” said KP. “That’s with the same group of girls except for one.”
Her players love her and listen to her tips. KP enjoys encouraging them to succeed.
Her love of the game is obvious as KP was back in the dugout Monday at Milner Recreation Center less than a week after the loss of her husband, Timothy Allen Morton.
KP admits it’s been an emotionally draining time but says maintaining her regular routine is the best way to keep going.
We’d like to recognize KP Morton for making an impact in our community through her years of coaching youth sports and shaping lives.
