Our success at Tumbleweed during our time was because of special people who helped us grow as children and supported us as business owners. The Menominee Nation lost this wonderful member and tribal elder yesterday. We will forever remember the impact Romaine Delabrue had on us and so many in our community. Rest in Peace Romaine.

Congratulations to this year’s Wisconsin Indian Education Association Elder of the Year Award winner Romaine Delabreau. She shaped minds and loved children for many years first at St. Anthony School in Neopit and later the Menominee Tribal School. Romaine shopped at Tumbleweed today and will look fun and fabulous as she accepts her award tonight! We love you Miss Romaine!

The minutes are ticking down to our final day tomorrow. Memories of our dreams and hard work replay in our minds.

We had help from friends and family to apply the first coats of paint, install new floors, hang our signs, and steam our first shipments of inventory. We put our hearts into getting it right and hoped Shawano would come to shop!

On March 1st of 2017, we cut the ribbon with the Chamber and had a special blessing of our store by Deacon Tom Hartman. We worked hard every day to respect the blessing, keep up with new fashion trends, and bring unique pieces to our customers.

Over the years we’ve welcomed nuns from the Arizona desert, shoppers from Virginia, and College CEOs from Montana. Our local faithful came every day and always anxiously awaited the shipments that would arrive after our trips to market. The lakes residents and their guests kept us booming all summer. Witches Night Out, Ladies Day into Night, Octoberfest, and Sundrop Days brought the store to life.

Our memories are etched in our minds like pictures and so we share some of them with you!

THANK SHAWANO DOWNTOWN, thank you to everyone who shopped at Tumbleweed, and everyone who regularly stopped in to say hello and wish us well.

We will close our doors tomorrow proud of what we built and forever grateful that you supported us.
