I come from a long line of amazing women. My great grandmother Dede graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1917, years before most women even had the right to vote, and she refused to marry until she did. My grandmothers, great aunts, aunts, my incredible mom and my three older sisters have all paved the way for me and inspired me literally since the day I was born. I could not get through one day without my amazing women friends, and after two decades of working in fashion my list of inspiring work wives is LONG. But the whole idea of Mother’s Day is a bit funny to me. It seems ridiculous to me that the entire endeavor of creating and caring for life can be reduced to one annual celebratory day. And for everyone that has struggled with becoming or not becoming a mom, had a jerk mom or lost a beloved mom, I know it can be tough. I also know it takes all type of care givers to get through this thing called life, and that’s really how I like to think of Mother’s Day. It is a a day to remember and celebrate all the amazing women and people from your life that have loved you, supported you, inspired you and to reflect on even the ones that have challenged you, because ultimately they have all helped shape, and made possible, you and your life. My latest newsletter, My Printed Life, is now live with all the recent books, poetry documentaries, olive oil soap, age-reversing serums, sun hats, sherbet sweaters, statement jewelry and butter colored jeans I would like to give or receive for Mother’s Day. To all my ladies, I see you and I LOVE YOU every damn day. 💛💛💛
