The three magic questions for 2026:

1. Are you making more hats anytime soon?
2. Are you making more mugs anytime soon?
3. Are you making more t-shirts anytime soon?

The answer to all three is a big fat YES!

So let’s talk about number 2., mugs. Mug makers are just like any other profession out there in the sense that there is really good potters who are really good people, which we’re so lucky to have a few of in our corner. There is also decent potters out there that end up being greedy weasels that take advantage of both us and you as customers.

Right now we’ve got two amazing potters, one that has been with us even before the Bison Union days and another that has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get our “Bison Union” mugs dialed in perfectly so that we can not only launch them again but keep them in stock throughout the year (hahaha well at least try to if you guys don’t buy them so fast).

Our mugs aren’t cheap to make and each one is handmade and takes hours of time and a pretty penny in resources to make. Our goal has always been to get them made and get them to in both a manner in a price that everyone wins.

We’re working hard behind the scenes to get some new handmade mugs out as soon as possible. Hopefully in the next 45 days.

Sheryl has also ordered and few new less expensive RAM press dinner mug batches that should be arriving in the next 30-45 days as well, possibly sooner.

Well my friends I’ve said it a lot lately…..

“Your feelings will never cooperate with your dreams.”

At 3:22pm today, ten years and two month to the day after starting this company with the only $1700 I had at the time….I made a decision that’s taken me a year and half to make. We made a great deal for all parties involved to transition and sell most of my ownership in Bison Union and pass the torch on.

Again this wasn’t an easy decision and has been something we’ve been working on for almost two years behind the scenes. This company is a part of my heart and soul and always will be. At the end of the day though it will allow me to be where I belong, in Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Turks & Caicos with Bri, Deanie, and the dogs.

I’m not going far and will be staying on as an owner and Chief Branding Officer working closely with Sheryl and the team at the shop and roastery in Sheridan…. and Landon, the new owner and his team throughout the region and country as they push the boundaries on what Bison Union is capable of achieving. They have some amazing things planned and I will be intimately involved in all of them.

There’s no words that describe how much I love and owe all of you that have made this brand and company what it is. You’re everything that’s right with America and the world and I will be eternally grateful to you all for allowing me to truly live the American dream by supporting me and my ideas… ultimately leading me to my wife and son that have brought me a peace and happiness that I never imagined I would find in this world.

I’m not going far but I am signing off as the sole keeper of Bison Union’s social media.

“Good friends help you move furniture, great friends help you move dead bodies.”

A few people have come into my life that weren’t just good people….but people that completely changed the trajectory of my life for the better on every level.

I met Sheryl about six years ago (I’m not great with dates) by chance. From the get go I liked her cause she immediately started giving me sh*t and was just a genuinely authentic person. As time would go on I’d also realize she is one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met, and one of the most honest and loyal on top of that.

The days then at Bison Union were chaotic to say the least. I had three other jobs, a partner stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars and a lot of intellectual property behind my back, and I absolutely hated my life……but I hid it well, really well.

BUT the good news was, things would get even worse hahaha. To the point where I had to have a coming to Jesus….either I shut Bison Union down or we (Sheryl and I) suit up and fight for a company and more importantly customers and employees we loved.

With the help of a private investor who loved both bison and Bison Union, we were able to get rid of the problem and hit the pause button on the chaos which meant cutting back on almost everything unless it was absolutely essential to keep the lights on, the team getting paid, and the coffee roasting.

I had done every job at this company at some point since I started it BUT I was so out of touch with so many parts of it. Sheryl and I had to tear everything apart and essentially rebuild the entire company I had started in a tiny room to the point that it was like going back to day one.

I told Sheryl, “I can’t promise you anything other than I’ll give up the last dollar I have to make sure you get paid, everything beyond that is uncertain.”

Her reply: “F*ck it, I’m ride or die. We got this!”

Slowly but surely she managed to learn everything single thing I could share about this company, which is an extension of my personality and brain-and in Sheryl fashion she would end up being much better at a lot of it than I am. To be continued in the days to come…..

Circa 2019, the middle of night, Sheridan, Wyoming trying to figure out how to roast great coffee…..shortly following a long day of burning a bunch of bridges that needed to burned.

This would ultimately be one of the greatest decisions of my professional life thus far BUT was also a risky one that to be honest scared the sh*t out of me at the time as well caused me a substantial amount of backlash, drama, and ridicule. Having said that, I should have done it a year earlier. If people are sh*tty….get em out of your life as fast as you can!

The next year was filled with hundreds of nights like this…..Matilda and myself teaching ourselves to roast coffee in the middle of the night.

If you take a good look at the picture….looking back on it then as well as now, it’s a pretty peaceful place to be. Roasting coffee in the middle of the night with no one around pretending to be a craftsman from 1895.

One test batch at a time….slowly going from absolutely undrinkable bitter brown water to “oh man, this actually tastes pretty good.”

The next step was turning over the roasting to someone I trusted. Not an easy task cause at the time I didn’t trust anyone, except my dogs! Haha. Fortunately for me god or the universe dropped a hard working, brutally honest, incredibly loyal, foul-mouthed, CrossFittin’ Wyoming to core mom on me at the perfect place and time….. who would become my right hand and ultimately Bison Union’s incredible General Manager & my coffee roasting partner.

Hi there. Been a day or two!

Little reintroduction to the new folks here over the last year. I’m Bert and ten years and two months ago I started this company in a tiny room in my house and eventually ended up in wonderful Sheridan, Wyoming on the corner of Main St. and Main St. smack in the center of town.

For everyone else that’s been here for the ride, thank you and although we haven’t been too loud on social media the last year….Bison Union is alive and well and not going anywhere.

I’m back at the shop this week and we have a ton of exciting stuff going on that includes some big news and big changes. More to come on that this week BUT yes, it will include a ton of new merch….coffee, tees, hats, hoodies, mugs, etc.

This company was built solely by our customers and our employees and that will NEVER be forgotten. Our quiet break on social media is on me personally and it will all make sense in the near future. It’s a good story and I think you’ll all understand when you hear it cause that’s just how you guys are….great! We couldn’t do it without you all.

These will be live at 12:00 NOON MOUNTAIN TIME TODAY!!!

Each mugs is numbered and we made 110 of these between the two colors. These are limited each Mother’s Day so when they’re gone, they’re gone. Good luck and Happy Mother’s Day to all you Mama Bears out there doing the most important job on earth! -Bert
