Convenience. The number of people complaining about Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, etc yet continue using their products or services out of convenience is why they keep acting with impunity. Most of their wealth is tied to their stocks. That's the only real stick you have against them... and yet people continue to enable their behavior by using the very agents of their wealth.

At some point people are going to have to make a decision on what's more important… there are more ways to get news, to share information and stay in contact with people that don't include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, etc. and doesn't involve asking Alexa how to cook a pancake or driving a $240,000 electric car. Everytime you shop on Amazon you enrich the man and corporation that's another cog propping up our march to an even worse police state, hurting small business, and helping displace workers (and rewarding a company that doesn't think your neighbors have a right to negotiate collectively for better pay.)

Every injustice to our rights, liberties and to the health of our nation is built on the one before. And what's coming down the pike is going to make the changes after 9/11 look small.

At some point folks are going to have to choose what's important and be willing to sacrifice convenience and other things to help effect change. As for me, I've been particularly unhappy with the transformation at FB long before Zuck decided to get on his knees to the Orange Oaf. I have no interest in being even a tiny part of that. Facebook really has become just a cesspool anyway, and it gets worse every day. Following people that you actually want to follow is a chore. It's not how it should be.

Not sure whether I'll do a complete delete of the profiles yet or just deactivate them. But in he next week I will take them offline (all Meta products). I deleted Twitter when Chairman Mao (I mean Musk) took over and if they force a sale of TikTok to him that rarely used app will go too. I don't use Amazon or Alexa. And because of how businesses are so intertwined, it might not be easy to entirely eliminate everything… I'm sure going to make an effort to eliminate ways to prop up that corrupt system wherever I can.
