Slow down: expect your pace to feel 30-90 sec/mile harder than normal, and don't fight it.
Hydrate before you head out: don't wait until you're thirsty.

Whether you're prepping for a spring 5K or just getting back into a routine, what you eat before, during, and after your run makes a real difference.

Before: Eat 2-3 hours out. Keep it light. Banana, toast, or oatmeal works great.
During: Hydrate every 15-20 minutes. For anything longer than 60 minutes, bring a gel or chews.
After: Refuel within 30-45 minutes with protein and carbs to help your body recover.
