I feel like it’s important to clear the air regarding some of the rumors and drama surrounding ReLoved Boutique and the Village Square Mall.
A little over a year ago, I approached the Village Square Mall management about renting a space in the mall to open an affordable children’s clothing store. She was very supportive of the idea and sympathetic to what we were trying to accomplish. She shared that she herself started out in that very same mall, raised her children there, and over the years their family has worked hard and become a successful and established family within the Sidney community. She understood what it was like to start something from the ground up, and she gave ReLoved Boutique the opportunity to do the same.
Over the past year, there have been noise complaints involving our store and the children who come through our doors. Management did her best to be understanding, work with everyone involved, and make accommodations where she could.
The simple truth is that the Village Square Mall isn't necessarily the same place it may have been 15 or 25 years ago. Today, it is home to several quieter, more relaxed businesses where a peaceful atmosphere is important to their customers.
ReLoved Boutique is very different. We are a children- and family-oriented store. Kids laugh, cry, play, get excited, throw the occasional fit, and sometimes they're just plain loud. As much as we've tried to be respectful of our neighbors, it is extremely difficult—if not impossible—for a busy children's store to remain quiet all of the time.
At the same time, it's understandably difficult for quieter businesses to operate with the noise that naturally comes along with a children's store right next door.
That doesn't necessarily make either side wrong. Sometimes two perfectly good businesses simply aren't a good fit for the same environment.
Our one-year lease ended August 31 2026, and the owners politely asked us to find a new location and gave us an additional month to make that transition.
We do not want there to be bad blood between ReLoved Boutique and the Village Square Mall family. They gave our unusual little business model an opportunity when it was just an idea, and for that we are genuinely thankful. We also recognize the difficult position they were put in trying to keep the peace between very different types of businesses under the same roof.
ReLoved Boutique has always been about affordable clothing, helping families, and creating something positive for our community. That's what we want people to remember—not -->rumors, arguments, or unnecessary drama.
